Veteran Gandhian Anna Hazare remanded to 7-days judicial custody after he refused to accept police undertakings and furnish the personal bond.
After arrest, Anna was produced before the City Executive Magistrate where he was asked to furnish the personal bond. But he refused to do so.
Earlier, Delhi Police Commissioner BK Gupta on Tuesday justified police action against veteran Gandhian Anna Hazare and his supporters.
When he was asked about the whereabouts of Anna, Gupta said that he is at DCP (West) office where he will be produced before the magistrate and will be released on personal bond.
In case of his refusal to accept the police undertakings and fulfill personal bond, Anna Hazare will have to go under judiciary custody.
Meanwhile, reports are coming that Anna has refused to take the bail and is ready to go Tihar jail.
Addressing a press conference, Gupta said that Team Anna failed to accept police guidelines to hold protest.
“We had no options left but to arrest Team Anna following their intention to defy the prohibitionary orders.”
Gupta said that India Against Corruption (IAC) was granted permission to hold JP Narayan Park under special case but with proper undertakings.
Gupta said that there were intelligence inputs that around 15, 000-2000 people would attend the fast while police had asked IAC members to protest with 5000 people.
Gupta further said that Team Anna was also asked to hold the dharna anywhere in outer Delhi but they stuck to their demands of holding it inside Delhi.
